What we do
At the Learning Curve, we are focused on effective and holistic education through after-school classes.
TLC’s classes are optimally sized to facilitate individual teacher-student interaction and promote peer learning. We start our classes at 10 students and cap at 15 students per class. TLC believes this size effectively facilitates individual teacher-student interaction and promotes peer learning.
About us
Who we are NOT
The Learning Curve is NOT just another name for after school lessons.
The Learning Curve is an innovative organisation whose goal is to produce successfully intelligent global citizens.
We believe in the potential of our nation’s young people to positively impact their society and are committed to the cause of helping them to realise their potential and teaching them that they can each make an invaluable contribution to their society.
We do this through offering a comprehensive programme for students from forms 3 – 6. Our programme in no way attempts to compete with students’ regular schooling but rather we aim to work in tandem with and complement their secondary school education.
We cultivate successfully intelligent students through a strong focus on
- Academic learning
- Career guidance and building
- Life Skills
- Human and social development.
- Psychological testing
Our Philosophy
Successful intelligence
Our mantra at the Learning Curve is “successful intelligence”, a phrase coined by American Psychologist, Robert Sternberg. According to Sternberg, successful intelligence refers to the balance of “book smarts” with creative intelligence and social intelligence.
Successful intelligence is the recognition of and compensation for weaknesses, through a balance of analytical, practical and creative abilities.
It is the ability to achieve success in life, given one’s personal standards, within one’s social context; in order to adapt, to shape and select environments.
Our Approach
Our Approach to Teaching and Learning
TLC’s classes are optimally sized to facilitate individual teacher-student interaction and promote peer learning. We start our classes at 10 students and cap at 15 students per class. We believe there are benefits to be derived from students interacting and learning from each other, yet our classes are sufficiently sized to allow our teachers to interact with students individually.

< Roll Over >
Successful Intelligence
This can be described as the ability to balance analytical, practical, and creative intelligence and use these intelligences effectively.
1. Analytical Intelligence
Involves the conscious direction of our mental processes to find a thoughtful solution to a problem. It is the ability to overcome obstacles to find a solution. Being analytically intelligent is having the ability to solve problems effectively.

2. Creative Intelligence
Is the ability to come up with new ideas. With creative intelligence, a person can generate innovative solutions to solve problems.
3. Practical Intelligence
Is common sense and deals mostly with social situations. Some might refer to this aspect of intelligence as street-smarts.
